Thermocouple type K is an electrical cable that is comprised of chromel (positive) and alumel (negative). It is the most common thermocouple type because it provides the widest operating temperature range (-270ºC - 1,260ºC*). Because Type K thermocouples are nickel-based and possess great resistance to corrosion, these thermocouples have the widest operating temperature range, and work in most applications.
